Mock Fund

At MRIC, we bridge the gap between theory and real-world investing through our Mock Fund, designed to give hands-on experience in portfolio management, stock analysis, and market strategy.
How it Works
The $100,000 fund is divided into five sectors, each allocated $19,000 to invest. 80% of the funds go into any market of their choice, while 20% is allocated to the TSX. The Goal? Outperform the S&P 500.
The Investment Process
Each sector pitches stocks they believe will drive returns, backed by fundamental and technical analysis. Together, we discuss key factors like financial health, valuation, industry trends and market conditions, risk and catalyst assessment, and long-term outlook.
Why it Matters
Analysts gain practical experience in equity research, investment decision making, and risk management. By working through pitches and real-time market analysis, students build skills that translate directly into careers in finance, banking, and asset management.

Stock Competition

At MRIC, we believe the best way to learn is by doing. That's why we hold a Stock Competition, where members have the opportunity to build and manage their own portfolio in a competitive environment.
How it Works
Each club member joins the Mount Royal Investment Club competition team and receives $50,000 of virtual capital to invest however they like, in any market and stocks of their choice.
The Investment Process
Throughout the year, members track their portfolios, adjust their strategies, and compete to generate the highest returns. Whoever achieves the most successful portfolio by the end of the year wins trophy and prize money!
Why it Matters
This competition is a great way for members to apply real investment strategies, refine their decision-making skills, and gain hands-on experience in the markets — all within a risk-free environment. It’s an opportunity to learn, compete, and grow alongside peers.
