What is the Mount Royal Investment Club?

MRIC is a student-led organization focused on building investment knowledge, financial confidence, and real-world experiences through workshops, events, portfolio managements and more.

Do I need prior investing experience to join?

Not at all! MRIC welcomes students of all experience levels — whether you're just curious about investing, starting out your journey, or already analyzing markets.

What can I gain from joining MRIC?

Hands-on investing experience, resume-building opportunities, industry professional seminars to grow your network, and access to a community of like-minded students.

Do I have to be an analyst to join?

Not at all! While analysts are more involved in stock research and other club events, you can join as a General member to attend events, build your knowledge, and explore investing at your own pace. No pressure — just opportunity!

What types of events does MRIC host?

We host industry professional panels and speaker nights, networking events, student-led seminars, stock pitches, and more — all designed to help members grow their knowledge and network.

Can students from any program join?

Yes! While a majority of our members are in business or finance, we encourage students from any background to join — diverse perspectives strengthen our team!

How do I join MRIC?

General member applications are open year-round, while Analyst and Portfolio Manager applications open during the summer prior to the upcoming academic year.

How do the member roles differ?

Each role comes with increasing responsibilities and involvement with the club, as well as researching, pitching, mentoring, and decision-making. Members can move up through the tiers over time.

Are there leadership opportunities?

Yes! We offer leadership opportunities each year through our Portfolio Manager and Senior Analyst roles — applications open annually.

Do members manage real money?

Our Mock Fund simulates real investing but with paper money, giving members an oppournity to learn and gain hands-on experience with stock analysis and portfolio strategy without the risk.

Our Stock Competition is another great opportunity to learn to invest without the risk — and win a cash prize!
